Ready, Set, Go: CMS Launches a New Era in Safety and Reimbursement
Moderator, QuantiaMD Safety and Reimbursement Series, Professor and Associate Chairman of MedicineUniversity of California San Francisco
As Dr. Robert Wachter explains to physicians in the first installment of a landmark QuantiaMD education series, October 1, 2008 ushered in a new era in how healthcare will be paid for in the United States. In the name of safety, Medicare's new "never events" program now withholds additional payment from providers who unnecessarily harm patients.

In October 2008, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that it will not pay for care required as a result of preventable medical errors (Never Events).

In this series, Dr. Bob Wachter and his esteemed faculty provide concise, expert instruction on how to prevent each of the 11 CMS Never Events.
