Common Threads in Pain and Addiction

Pain and addiction can and do coexist. By taking an integrative rather than dichotomous approach to pain management, risk can be managed, stigma reduced and hopefully, patient care improved. Doctors Heit and Gourlay provide years of experience and clinical insight distilled into six targeted topics. Each topic is offered as two complimentary presentations, each standing alone but when taken together, offers the viewer a unique opportunity to effect change in their clinical practice. This series offers an exciting educational opportunity to develop a patient-centered approach to risk management that is defensible, rational and compassionate.

"Due to it's effects on NMDA receptors and serotonin and norepi, I have found it to be very effective in controlling all types of neuropathic pain, unlike other opiods. Very concise presentation which hit the important risks, but more importantly, how to manage the risks so that people won't be discouraged from using this cheap and effective medication."
